Limited edition 20th Anniversary PS4 sells for $130 000
Stand by for some truly ridiculous news.
We made a big noise about PlayStation‘s 20th birthday a few weeks ago, and so did Sony. The company saw a big marketing opportunity by offering a limited batch of originally dish-water coloured PS4 consoles t0 its loyal fans and hordes of opportunists. Thanks to their exclusivity, the consoles sold out in less than a day but they have since made appearances on online e-commerce sites for massively inflated prices.
A Japanese man has just played the ultimate game of “I’m richer than you” by buying one of these illusive consoles for a staggering US$130 000.

This wasn’t from eBay though, but from Sony itself holding an auction on Yahoo Auctions for the most prestigious consoles of them all — the 00001 serial number model.
12 300 were made, but this is the one officially unboxed by the blue team and that must add some extra value onto it, we guess.
The silver lining to this story, perhaps, is that proceeds will be donated and not kept by the suits at Sony. Even they were surprised at how much the console fetched.
We’re not too sure why he didn’t buy a house made of ordinary PS4s, but hey, we suppose sometimes the heart wants what it wants even if its taste is ridiculous.
