Fallout 4, Uncharted 4 and No Man’s Sky walk away with Game Critics Awards

If you’re not too familiar with the Game Critics Awards, it’s an annual gathering of the top 35 media minds in the industry each year after E3. This year was no exception either, with journalists arguably blessed with an even wider range of games to choose from than ever before.

Bethesda, Microsoft and Ubisoft announced some massive titles, while Sony and Nintendo also got in on the act, albeit with a little less sass. Spoiled for choice, you might say, but usually their taste doesn’t quite line up with gamers’.

In 2014, Evolve landed the “Best of Show” title, and a year before, Titanfall got that honour — arguably games that don’t appeal too much to mass audiences and that have no hint of storyline whatsoever.

This year, the seemingly universally-popular Bethesda title Fallout 4 walked away with the crown, and an additional two awards, including “Best PC Game” and “Best Role Playing Game”. Fallout 4 was definitely the developers flagship title in a jam-packed press event, and for one, it does look like a massively engrossing game.

Moving down the line, the PlayStation 4 exclusive Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End took home “Best Console Game” (which will definitely make Xbox One fans spit in disgust) and “Special Commendation for Graphics” which is fairly funny considering it suffered from a glitch in its E3 2015 demo.

Other winners include FIFA 16 for “Best Sports Game” and Need For Speed for “Best Racing Game”, even though we’ve barely seen any game play at all. Also walking away with some silverware included No Man’s Sky as “Best Independent Game” and Horizon Zero Dawn as “Best Original Game.”
