HTC to launch 6.0-inch flagship smartphone in Q2 2016, report suggests

According to G For Games citing Twitter leaker LlabTooFeR, Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC will launch a new phablet flagship in the northern spring of 2016. It will likely be the device that follows the HTC One M9 (feature image) as the company’s show pony.

The phone will boast a 6.0-inch screen — to rival the likes of Huawei‘s Mate range — a 2560×1440 screen, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 heart, 4GB of RAM and Android Marshmallow 6.1. Powering the device is a 3500mAh battery, and imaging is made possible thanks to a 20.7MP sensor at the back, and a 5MP sensor up front.

It’s the most interesting specs lineup we’ve seen from an HTC device in a long time, and that’s barely the tip of the iceberg. As for the name? Well, sources also suggest the name “Perfume.” We can’t imagine why.

Thanks to the Android Marshmallow 6.1 tidbit, we can safely say that the phone isn’t expected to arrive early next year. Indeed, 6.1 hasn’t even been announced yet, so take that detail with a punch of salt. But HTC has also announced this week that the HTC Vive VR headset will also be delayed until April 2016.

Could we possibly see these two launches coincide?
