Capcom purges persistent rage-quitters’ points in Street Fighter V
Ryu doesn’t like it when you rage-quit, and neither does Capcom. In its latest Unity blog post, the publisher has stated that it’s clamping down on persistent rage-quitters.
For those who have rock-solid internet connections, rage-quitting involves deliberately leaving a Street Fighter V head-to-head bout just prior to getting your ass kicked. It’s the digital equivalent of running away from life’s problems, but is much more beneficial. Ensuring that their win percentage remains high, rage-quitters generally stand to benefit from a healthier points tally in the league system.
But Capcom, as it promised last week, is clamping down on repeat offenders.
“Starting last week, we penalized roughly 30 players in our system by docking their League Points,” Capcom noted on its blog. “Players who log into their account and see that their LP and Rank has dropped significantly can consider this a warning.”
The company was sure to note that those who do drop from games from time to time will not be penalised. However, players with “an 80-90% disconnect rate” are generally regarded as sitting “outside the norm” and subsequently get a spanking.
“Moving forward, we will be making a sweep each week based on accounts in our system that have abnormally high disconnect rates (particularly at the end of the match) and will reset their League Points,” the company clarified.
As for Street Fighter V itself, Capcom is bringing updates to the game’s modes, the character Alex, and other server-side stability improvements in the coming weeks.
Ultimately, if gamers have queries regarding rage-quitting incidents or server issues, Capcom suggests darting a tweet to @SFVServer.
