MacBooks set for Apple reveal on 27 October?
Apple has scheduled a 27 October event, but what will the Cupertino firm be revealing then?
According to MacRumors, citing respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is expected to unveil refreshed MacBooks.
Kuo claimed that new MacBook Pro laptops would be the star of the show, offering an OLED touch bar for starters. This would replace the row of function keys and presumably be context-sensitive, so if you’re watching a movie, the touch bar would potentially show media playback controls.

The new MacBook Pro models are also expected to pack fingerprint scanners, USB Type-C ports (hopefully more than one), Skylake processors and Thunderbolt 3, the analyst added.
A 13-inch MacBook is also expected to be revealed, although it’s expected to be a new MacBook Air rather than a successor to last year’s MacBook.
In addition to MacBooks, the analyst said Apple was also working on new iMacs and a standalone 5K display, but it’s not clear whether these will be ready in time for a reveal this week.
Interestingly enough, there’s been no mention of iPads, with the iPad Air 2 being released in October 2014 and the iPad Mini 4 coming in September 2015. Although, to be fair, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro was released earlier this year. Still, I think we’re about due for a vanilla iPad…
