Snapdragon 835 specs leaked: how many cores will it have?
We already know that the Snapdragon 835 processor, expected to power many flagship phones next year, will be manufactured on a 10nm process.
Now, more details have emerged, apparently giving a full name and detailing some of the technology behind the new processor.
The chip will have the “MSM8998” product name (in addition to Snapdragon 835), the company told Neowin, being the same naming convention as previous Snapdragon processors.
According to a slide obtained by Chinese publication anzhuo.cn, the new chipset will also use an octacore design, using Qualcomm’s own Kryo cores in a 4+4 format. So this means four high-powered cores and four energy-saving cores – the frequency and other CPU details weren’t revealed.
In the graphics department, the slide lists an Adreno 540 chip.
The Snapdragon 835 is slowly taking shape, giving a rough idea of what we should expect in 2017
These latest reports corroborate an article by Fudzilla in April. Back then, it was reported that the Snapdragon 830 (as it was known then) would have the “MSM8998” name and the Adreno 540 chip as well.
The Chinese publication adds that the Snapdragon 835 will debut in the Samsung Galaxy S8 at MWC 2017.
What else do we know about the chip? Well, Qualcomm has confirmed that it will feature Quick Charge 4.0 support for much faster charging. But aside from the usual “more powerful and power-efficient” lines, we don’t know much else at this stage.
