Lenovo ZUK Edge launching today – what to expect?

Zuk Edge

Lenovo’s ZUK sub-brand has been making waves over the past year or so, in large part due to solid devices like the ZUK Z2 Pro. Now, the Chinese brand is set to release a new handset this week in the form of the ZUK Edge.

According to GizmoChina, citing Lenovo’s Weibo updates, the ZUK Edge will be launched today (7 December). Release and pricing information hasn’t been disclosed yet, but China’s TENAA body has published specifications for the handset.

The listing reveals a 2.35Ghz processor (lining up with the Snapdragon 821’s clock speed), 4GB or 6GB RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB storage options and a 3000mAh battery.

The ZUK Edge will hopefully continue the trend of affordable yet high-end smartphones

Don’t expect a curved display just because it has “Edge” in its name though, as the body lists (and shows) a standard 5.5-inch full HD LCD screen.

In the camera department, the listing shows a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front-facing shooter. Further details for the camera weren’t revealed but, if it’s anything like the Z2 Pro, we can expect a large aperture (the earlier handset had an f/1.8 aperture), 4K video recording and some interesting slow-mo.

For the record, the Z2 Pro claimed 960fps slow-motion but this was more software trickery than true ultra slow-motion video.
