With today’s discerning consumer demanding that their wearable tech be as functional as it is fashionable, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series steps boldly…
Cloud phone manufacturer Nextbit bought by Razer
Smartphone brand Nextbit has been acquired by peripheral giant Razer, the brand confirmed.
“I’m thrilled to announce that we’re joining the Razer family! They’re rebels like us, they speak from the heart, and they share our need to push boundaries,” company CEO and co-founder Tom Moss announced on the website.
What should we expect from this deal then? Can we expect new hardware?
“Nextbit will operate as an independent division inside Razer, focused on unique mobile design and experiences. To put it simply, we’ll be doing exactly what we’ve been doing all along, only bigger and better,” Moss added.
Razer’s acquisition of Nextbit means that the Robin smartphone will no longer be sold — but what’s next for the firm?
Those hoping to buy a Robin will need to use unofficial sellers though. But what if you’ve got a device already?
“While we have stopped selling Robin and all accessories through our official channels, we are still dedicated to supporting all of you. We will continue to fulfill warranties for six more months. And as promised, we will continue to provide software updates and security patches through February 2018.”
Nextbit landed with a splash last year thanks to the Robin, making heavy use of cloud-powered services and functionality. In fact, the company claimed the phone “intelligently archives” your content and learns how you use the device.
