New Chrome OS update available, brings material design and more
Today, Google announced the release of a new update for Chrome OS. While it doesn’t bring any major changes, such as the ability to install and use Android apps, it does include a few interesting ones.
According to a Google blog post, the 56.0.2924.87 (Platform version: 9000.82.0) update contains a new Material Design for the shelf and system menu and Flash Component updater. Additionally, a “new version of the ChromeVox screen reader is now the default across all Chromebooks”.
The Asus Chromebook Flip C100PA, Google Chromebook Pixel (2015), and Acer Chromebook R11 will not receive the update. These devices support the Google Play Store and Android app installation.
In order to update, click the control button in Chrome, and then select ‘Help’ and ‘About Chrome’. Your system should start checking for the new version and begin downloading it.
