Nintendo 2DS XL is now official
We’ve seen the Nintendo 3DS, then the 2DS and New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL. Now, Nintendo has decided to combine the family in a sense, revealing the New Nintendo 2DS XL.
The revised console sees a foldable design, much like its larger stablemates. Otherwise, you’ve got larger screens, a C-stick, ZL/ZR buttons and Amiibo functionality.
Being a 2DS model, the new console still has 2D-only functionality, so don’t get this if you want 3D trickery, obviously.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL offers an improved design, additional controls and more power
Interestingly enough, the company also says the new console has the New Nintendo 3DS processor, allowing you to play all new Nintendo 3DS games too.
It’s unclear if the Kyoto firm plans to bring SNES games to the console though, with the weaker 2DS missing out.
The console is set to launch on 28 July at a price of US$150 in North America.
