Nokia 8 launches in SA: we got pricing, but what else to know?
Back at the international Nokia 8 launch, we managed to suss out the South African pricing of the new handset, coming in at a recommended price of R9499.
Now, HMD Global has made it all official, confirming that sales have started for the new device in South Africa. So what should you know?
For starters, the phone is exclusive to Vodacom right now, coming in blue and steel colours. Don’t care for the prepaid price? Then you can grab it for R449 a month on a uChoose Flexi 150 contract (12 months).
As for specifications? You’re looking at a 5.3-inch 1440p display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, you’re looking at a Huawei-style dual camera setup (one 13MP RGB camera and one 13MP monochrome camera) as well as Carl Zeiss branding.
Other noteworthy specs include OZO Audio for 360 degree audio recording, a 3090mAh battery and front-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Much like the other HMD smartphones, you’re looking at pure Android and the promise of speedy updates.
Update: HMD Global has confirmed that it’s a 24 month contract, rather than 12 months.
