Sony Xperia XA2 Plus announced: here are its specs

Sony’s just added another model to its XA2 phablet line.

Bearing the Plus moniker, the phone is set to join the XA2 Ultra in the larger screen ultra-mid range space. But what does it offer?

For one, it’s slightly smaller than its Ultra brother. That’s not to say it’s compact through.

With a 6.0-inch screen, a length of 157mm and a depth of nearly 10mm, it’s a large device. It also weighs some 205 grams; not exactly light either.

The screen itself holds 2160×1080 pixels, and boasts a longer 18:9 aspect ratio. This means that the Plus has a slightly smaller bottom bezel than the Ultra.

All this space does allow Sony to cram a 3580mAh battery into the device, notably large and should last around two days.

The Japanese firm is also using the Snapdragon 630 chipset at the phone’s heart, which is also employed in the Ultra.

Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra review: selfie control

Looking for a big phone? You’ve come to the right place. Hide your skinny jeans and fashionable jeggings, because the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra is a pocket breaker. Read more…

6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage space, and room for a microSD card is also quoted on the phone’s upper spec range.

And has for cameras, there’s a 23MP rear snapper, with an f/2.0 aperture. Up front, an 8MP selfie camera with a wide-angle lens is present. That’s a notable downgrade from the Ultra’s 16MP selfie camera, which was one of the best I’ve used in 2018.

The Xperia XA2 Plus does come with Android 8.0 Oreo, and is set to debut globally in August 2018.

There’s no word on price or availability in South Africa just yet, but considering the Ultra retails for R7999 here, we’re hoping that Sony shaves a few digits off that particular number.
