Microsoft pauses latest Windows 10 Update over disappearing files
Last week Microsoft released its latest October 2018 update for Windows 10, which was meant to empower “a new era of personal activity” according to the company.
This did not go as planned, however.
Instead, Microsofts’ community forums were flooded with complaints about personal files having gone missing once the update was installed, with users unable to recover them.
Microsoft has since taken down the update with plans on fixing the odd bug.
“We have paused the rollout of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809) for all users as we investigate isolated reports of users missing some files after updating,” Microsoft assured in a statement.
In the mean time, if you have already installed version 1809, the company suggests that you “minimize your use of the affected device” and contact the Microsoft support centre, where you will be helped with recovering your files.
“We will provide an update when we resume rolling out the Windows 10 October 2018 Update to customers”.
