Xiaomi kicked off MWC 2019 by talking none other than 5G.

But after a long song and dance about IoT and 5G’s performance, the company’s product manager Donovan Sung announced the device we’ve all been waiting for: the Mi Mix 3 5G.

It’ll be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset alongside Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem.

The company also showcased a 5G demo, in which the company performed a 5G video call beyond Chinese borders using Orange’s network.

“Real 5G. Not fake 5G,” Sung quipped.

As for the physical design, the Mi Mix 3 5G still includes the bevy of features the phone’s known for, including the ceramic body and the sliding face.

That includes the 6.4 inch AMOLED screen, 93.4% screen to body ratio, the same front camera module consisting of a 24MP and 2MP depth sensor. At the rear there’s a 12MP+12MP twin snapper.

It will however have a larger battery than its predecessor: 3800mAh over the initial 3200mAh of the Mi Mix 3.

It’ll be available in black and sapphire blue.

As for the price, Xiaomi is setting the phone’s price at €599.

Notably, the company’s partnering with Vodafone, so we could expect the device heading here at some point in 2019. We hope.

Globally, the phone will be available in May.
