For as long as the Pixel 3 first leaked, there have been rumours suggesting that Google was readying a budget Pixel to slug it out in the mid-range trenches.

Last week, XDA developers first noted their existence as spotted in code within Google’s ARCore offering.

Now, 9to5Google’s Stephen Hall has corroborated the devices’ names with its sources — these phones will indeed be called the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.

The publication hinted at some specs too.

The Pixel 3a will sport an OLED 5.6 inch display — about as small as device screens get in 2019 — with a resolution of 2280×1080.

You’ll get 4GB of RAM mated to a Snapdragon 670 chipset with 64GB of internal storage.

Notably, Google’s sticking with a single camera front and rear, measuring 8MP and 12MP respectively. The battery will weigh in at 3000mAh.

As for the 3a XL, it’s not clear how the device will be differentiated bar the larger form factor.

It’s not clear when these devices will launch to the general public, but Google’s set to launch a gaming project on Tuesday. Perhaps there’s a “one more thing” moment waiting to happen?
