Could the Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus launch as the Huawei Y9 S in South Africa?
Huawei South Africa on Friday announced that we can expect two devices running Android to arrive in the country before year-end.
This included the Huawei Nova 5T, which we detailed in this particular article. But it also mentioned the “Huawei Y9 S”, a successor to its recently launched Huawei Y9 Prime 2019.
If you gave the “Huawei Y9 S” a quick online search, you’d find there’s very little information on this device. But a new official promo video posted to Weibo in China and spotted by GSMArena this week may hint at what we could expect.
Dubbed the Huawei Enjoy 10 Plus, the phone is set to launch in the nation on 5 September, bringing with it a pop-up selfie camera, three rear cameras (which are mounted below one another), and a rear fingerprint reader.
Huawei often rebrands its Enjoy line as the Y series beyond China
Judging by the promo, the phone’s also set to receive four colour options (including something similar to that Amber Sunrise sheen of the P30 Pro).
Huawei often rebrands the Enjoy line as the Y series in select nations, and as Honor devices in others. Huawei also claimed on Friday that the Y9 S would be an “upgrade” of the Y9 Prime 2019, a phone that launched just weeks ago in South Africa.
We’ve contacted Huawei South Africa for comment on the above, and will update this article should we receive a response.
