The iPhone XR is still the world’s best selling smartphone in 2019
The iPhone XR was the biggest selling smartphone globally in Q3 2019, new research from Counterpoint suggests.
That’s not exactly news, considering the phone has topped the research firm’s sales charts for the past four quarters.
The phone was also Apple’s biggest seller globally, counting for more than a quarter of its total sales in Q3 2019. It was responsible for 3% of all global smartphone sales in the quarter.
However, what’s fascinating about this quarter’s chart is the prevalence of budget devices.
Samsung’s Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A50 take second and third place with 2.6% and 1.9% respectively. The Galaxy A20 was responsible for 1.4% of sales in this quarter.
Notably, the Galaxy Note and S series did not feature in the top ten, but Apple’s iPhone 11 did — the XR’s replacement.
Other budget contenders to feature included Oppo’s A9, A5, and A5s, while Xiaomi’s Redmi 7A made an appearance in 9th.
Notably, the only other flagship-tier phone to feature was from Huawei in the form of the P30. It was responsible for 1.1% of sales in this quarter.
