Everyone’s favourite heroes in a half shell are coming back in a classic arcade-style fighting game with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge.

The game was revealed on 10 March with a fast-paced gameplay trailer.

It is being developed in collaboration by Dotemu and Tribute Games.

Tribute is primarily known for developing Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

What to know about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

In Shredder’s Revenge, players team up to play as Michelangelo, Leonardo, Donatello, and Rafael to take on the evil Foot Clan and its terrifying leader.

The group is working on a nefarious plan with the help of supervillain Krang, and it’s up to the turtles to stop them.

And it’s not just the Foot Clan they have to deal with. Other famous foes such as Bebop and Rocksteady are also wreaking havoc across New York City.

Playing in teams of up to four players, gamers will yield the turtle’s unique weapons to fight their way through pixel environments and pull off awesome combo moves in spectacular fighting scenes.

While inspired by the original 1987 cartoon, Shredder’s Revenge is a spiritual follow-up to the TMNT video games of the 1980s and 90s.

The turtles’ first outing, simply called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, came out in arcades in 1989. A sequel, TMNT: Out of Time, followed in 1991 and later arrived on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

The last TMNT video game to be released was TMNT: Mutants in Manhattan in 2016.

The game released to mixed reviews and was eventually pulled from digital storefronts in early 2017.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is set to be released on consoles and PC.

No release date has been set yet. But players can wishlist the game on Steam.
