Xiaomi brings Redmi Note 10 series to South Africa: price and details
Xiaomi has announced the launch of its Redmi Note 10 series of South Africa, along with price and availability details for the affordable smartphones.
At a launch event on 14 July, the technology company announced that it is bringing three devices in the series to local shores: the Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10S, and Redmi Note 10 5G.
All phones in the range are priced under R5 500, with Xiaomi aiming for the mid-range market.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro
The Note 10 Pro is the camera and hardware heavyweight of the series, offering a range of premium features.
However, one of its most notable and eye-grabbing specs is the 108MP lens included in its quad-camera setup on the rear.
It’s also the largest device in the series, sporting a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
For the aforementioned quad-camera setup, the phone has a 108MP wide-angle lens, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP “telemacro” lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone has a 16MP selfie camera.
It also comes with Xiaomi’s Arc side fingerprint sensor — which is aimed at providing a visually discreet and responsive sensor on the side of the device.

Redmi Note 10S
The Note 10S is the sleek, compact entry into the series as the smallest and lightest of the new Redmi devices.
In addition to the discreet Arc side fingerprint sensor, it has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display.
Like the Note Pro, it features a quad-camera setup on the back. However, the Redmi Note 10S has a 64MP wide-angle lens, a 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor in its setup instead. On the front, its selfie camera has a 13MP lens.
For those interested in bright colours for their smartphones, the Note 10S also comes in a striking Ocean Blue version.

Redmi Note 10 5G
The Redmi Note 10 5G fulfills Xiaomi’s aim of bringing more affordable 5G devices to South African consumers. In fact, when it launches, it will be one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in South Africa.
The device is also the most affordable of the Note 10 series devices announced at Xiaomi’s event.
It balances affordability with 5G support by scaling back on certain features. The smartphone includes a 6.5-inch AdaptiveSync display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
It also comes equipped with a triple-camera setup for its main camera. This setup includes a 48MP wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.
For the front camera, it has an 8MP lens. Meanwhile, it also comes with 4GB of RAM.
While it has one less camera lens and a little less RAM than other phones in the series, it still comes with a large 5000mAh battery.
It also has 5G dual SIM support.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 series price in South Africa
So when do the new phones from Xiaomi become available for local consumers to purchase? And how much will they cost?
The Redmi Note 10 Pro is the first to become available, with a price of R5 499. It is available on the Vodacom website from 15 July.
Meanwhile, the Note 10S and Note 10 5G will become available from the end of July from Vodacom, Takealot, and other official Xiaomi retailers.
The Note 10S will retail for R4 999, while the Redmi Note 10 5G will retail for R4 499.
