iRobot Roomba smart vacuums, as well as the company’s Braava range of robot mops, are now officially available in South Africa.
The news comes as Core Group announced that it is now the exclusive distributor for iRobot locally.
“We are delighted to bring the iRobot brand to South Africa,” iRobot’s General Manager of EMEA, Stefan Bernard, said in a statement.
“Working together with Core Group, our exclusive distributor in South Africa, we look forward to establishing the brand and delighting consumers with our leading range of Roomba robot vacuums and Braava robot mops.”
Core Group says that the move into distributing iRobot’s vacuums came as a result of growing demand for these products.
“Over the past year, South Africa has seen dramatic growth in the robotic cleaning category,” Core Group said in a statement.
“The launch of iRobot in the country will enable South Africans to enjoy the many benefits robotic cleaners provide, letting them focus on what’s most important to them.”
A survey by Xiaomi found that more people have turned to smart home devices since the start of the pandemic.
