Can’t decide between the G8 or V50? LG debuts the G8S ThinQ
LG on Tuesday silently announced its premium mid-range flagship, the G8S ThinQ.
The company claims its “the perfect choice for consumers seeking a premium smartphone” and melds a few features inspired by the original G8 and the company’s V50, both announced in February.
Up front there’s a 2248×1080 resolution 6.2-inch OLED display, with an 8MP selfie camear and a time-of-flight sensor alongside it.
Internally, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 features, alongside 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 3550mAh battery. You’re getting support for LTE-A networks too, not 5G.
At the rear, the phone gets three camera sensors: a 13MP 137˚ wide-angle snapper with f/2.4 aperture, a 12MP standard f/1.8 camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera with f/2.6 aperture. See, very similar to the V50.
The phone still rocks a physical fingerprint sensor at the rear, and also comes with LG’s Hand ID technology, which allows you to hover your palm above the screen to unlock it.
Also included are stereo speakers, support for HDR10, IP68 water and dust ressistance, and a 3.5mm headphone jack with LG’s pretty incredible DAC.
As for the price and availability info, the LG G8S ThinQ will retail for R11 999 in South Africa from 8 July 2019. It’ll only be sold in Mirror Black.
