Samsung Galaxy S11 to sport 108MP camera, 5x optical zoom
The Samsung Galaxy S11 may be a few months away yet, but the rumours and spec predictions are coming in thick and fast.
On Friday, Bloomberg published insights fuelled by “people familiar with the company’s plans”.
Firstly, they mentioned a number, and it’s a number we’ve heard quoted in previous leaks. 108. That’s the megapixel count of the phone’s primary rear camera sensor.
It’ll be joined by three more cameras at the rear — a 5x telephoto snapper, an ultrawide angle lens, and possibly a time-of-flight or depth sensor for the flagship model.
The 108MP camera sensor, developed by Samsung, is currently employed in Xiaomi’s Mi Note 10, and is also rumoured for inclusion in the Samsung Galaxy A91.
Bloomberg’s sources also mention that this camera setup will be adopted by the company’s next Galaxy Fold device, which currently features a host of smaller sensors.
Samsung’s yet to confirm a launch date for the Galaxy S11 family, but considering it usually debuts a week before MWC in Barcelona, expect it around the end of February, early March.
