App Review: AirCassette to retrofy your life
When last did you play music on a tape? Try a blast from the past with AirCassette! This little app will ‘retrofy your hi-fi system’!
AirCassette is a music player styled as an old school cassette player. You can perform all the usual functions such as play, pause and skip songs, and your music is elegantly displayed on individual cassettes. You can select from a variety of tape colour and styles, and the name of the song and artist is ‘hand written’ on the label.
Who can forget painstakingly recording mixed cassettes with your favourite songs on? With AirCassette it’s never been easier. All you need to do is queue your songs and add them to a mixed tape. When your songs are in the queue you can browse your other music without interrupting what’s playing. You can also edit your list of songs with simple gestures that allow you to delete a song from the queue or clear the whole list with a swipe.
There are not a lot of features in this app. It’s been created more for the visual effects than for offering anything new functionality-wise. The old cassettes are charming and come without the real deal’s hiss and flutter. And you don’t need to worry about these getting stuck in your player or unravelling!
This is a fun app. If you’re in the mood for a new spin on old memories then it’s worth it, but if you’re wanting a music player with a lot of functions this isn’t it.
