Seedbook: The double-screened laptop
Ever thought your laptop could use another screen…on the back? If so, the Seedbook is just for you. Gearburn got a look at a prototype of this innovative, and slightly quirky, gadget at CES International 2012 in Las Vegas.
The Seedbook is manufactured by a Brazilian startup called SeedTronic and the company plans to bring out a range of its double screened notebooks later in 2012 — a small tablet sized model, a mid-sized notebook and a large laptop.
At the moment, the product is still in its prototype stage, so the version we saw was pretty chunky. The guys behind SeedTronic say, though, that the products that will go on sale are intended to be a lot more streamlined.
The company also claims that the rear screen will have full touch capability and HD screen resolution. This essentially means that, should you want it, you can have what effectively amounts to a really large tablet.
SeedTronic reckons the Seedbook is ideal for business. When it comes to giving an intimate presentation, for instance, you won’t need to go to the trouble of taking a projector with you (On the other hand small, ultra-portable projectors are getting more affordable and better in quality).
It adds, however, that the device will also be pretty good for leisure. If you’re working on one screen, you can keep an impatient friend, or small child entertained with a video on the other.
When the Seedbook goes live, SeedTronic claims it will be fully customisable, allowing you to pick the RAM, storage space, and processing power to best suit you.
Innovative yes, but its success will depend on how it’s received by the market.
