New Macbook Pro, 5K iMac Retina now available in South Africa
Apple‘s new 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina and iMac 27-inch Retina models are now available in South Africa, today revealed the company’s primary South African importer, Core Group.
The updated MacBook Pro boasts a 15-inch Retina-grade screen and boasts new features we’ve seen revealed by Apple earlier this year. These include Force Touch enabled track pad, “longer battery life and faster discrete graphics” which should make it a more attractive proposition for content creators.
Flash storage speed also gets a bump, with Apple claiming that it’s now 2.5 times swifter than before.
The iMac on the other hand is a stately behemoth. It’s 27-inch screen boasts a 5K resolution — that’s 5120×2880 pixels, or around five times as dense as a normal Full HD panel. It also boasts beefier Intel chipset options, including a 3.3-3.7GHz Intel Core-i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 1TB of storage, and a AMD R9 M290 GPU for good measure.
There’s also a host of I/O options, including four USB 3.0 ports, and two Thunderbolt 2.0 ports.
But what will you pay for these machines?
Well, quite a bit.
The iMac will set consumers back around R30 499, while the MacBook Pro is available in two options
The 256GB flash storage option will retail for R29 999 and the 512GB, R36 999. The latter model will be arriving in South Africa a little later this year though.
