Windows 10 universal games to receive unlocked frame rates
The Windows 10 Universal Windows Platform (UWP) games and apps are finally receiving some much-needed updates.
According to a press release sent to Gearburn, today’s updates will include support for AMD’s Freesync and Nvidia’s G-Sync, as well as unlocked frame rates for games and apps. These changes should allow for the UWP to utilise better graphical fidelity.
Both Gears of War: Ultimate Edition and Forza Motorsport 6: Apex will be the first PC titles to integrate these new features. There’s no word yet on the likes of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
The press release also teases “some exciting developments on multiple GPUs in DirectX 12 in the near future, and a truly impressive array of DirectX 12 titles later this summer and fall.” Some of these could be expected to be shown off during E3 2016.
Things are starting to look up for the Store, which has received negative criticism in the past over a number of issues. Updates to it can only be a good thing for gamers.
