PlayStation Network currently down in South Africa [Update]
Update #1, 8.02pm: Well, that didn’t last long. After an hour of downtime, PSN is now back up in South Africa and some parts of the world, according to Reddit. I’ve successfully logged into my account without much of a hitch. If you’re still battling, let us know in the comments section below.
Original article: Great news, PlayStation faithful. If you were looking to mash a few angered buttons online this evening, you should probably reschedule. Why you ask? Sony’s PlayStation Network is currently down.
According to PlayStation Network’s status website, Sony’s currently performing maintenance on the servers (interestingly, maintenance was scheduled for next week, 19 July). The downtime affects South Africans as well as Germany, England and as far east as Thailand.
Reports suggest that the service dropped around 6.30pm SAST today, and at present, servers remain inaccessible. Sony has since tweeted that it is currently investigating the issue.
We’re aware that some users are having trouble accessing PSN. Thanks for your patience as we investigate. https://t.co/NJX2xGusZM
