This Belkin dongle lets you listen to music while charging the iPhone 7
In case you missed the news, Apple has decided to drop the 3.5mm audio jack on its iPhone 7 range, making for quite a negative reaction (unless you’re a die-hard Apple fan or use wireless headphones).
One of the more notable downsides is that you can’t listen to music and charge your device at the same time. But third-party manufacturer Belkin has stepped up to the plate with a US$40 solution.
The company’s Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar accessory plugs into your Lightning port, effectively giving you two Lightning jacks. One is for your Lightning-equipped pair of earphones while the other can be used as a pass-through for charging your iPhone 7.
The Belkin accessory will set you back US$40
Belkin adds that the dongle (man, I hate that word) supports the “full ecosystem” of Lightning headphones, as well as 24-bit 48kHz lossless audio output.
Got a pair of 3.5mm headphones or an aux cord? The accessory is also compatible with Apple’s Lightning to 3.5mm adapter, which is included with every iPhone 7 purchase.
Still, you think Apple would learn from the new Macbook debacle, which saw it ship with only one USB Type-C port for charging and connectivity.
