2014 Stingray Corvette coupe: both provocative and purposeful [Gallery]
The new 2014 Stingray Corvette coupe is part of America’s race to join the sports car crowd, and it’s doing so in absolute style. Brought to us by Chevrolet and designed by Ed Welburn, Kirk Bennion and Tom Peters, the Stingray seriously turned some heads at the Detroit Motor show last year when it was first introduced.
The design elements have been upgraded from last year’s model to hold both aesthetic and performance value. The steel frame has been replaced by a light-weight aluminium design and the carbon fiber roof panel is meant to achieve optimal handling and acceleration. In a nutshell, Chevrolet holds the Stingray as both provocative and purposeful.
The vents not only look as if they’re ready to bite someone’s head off, they give the Stingray a breath of fresh air both in terms of its overall modern design and practicality. The hood air extractor helps reduce lift and lessens drag while the fender vent helps with cooling.
When it comes to the interior design, you have a choice between Kalahari sueded microfiber or Brownstone for the seats and the steering wheel. As shown in the gallery below the Stingray is available in Torch Red and Cyber Gray Metallic while the Laguna Blue Metallic Tintcoat option will cost you extra.
