Chrysler’s now using the Oculus Rift to let you experience how your car’s being built

This is pretty cool. In a bid to promote the Chrysler 200, Wieden+Kennedy Portland have partnered with Stopp and MPC Creative to create a virtual reality experience showing off how it’s made.

The Oculus Rift-driven VR experience not only gives users a tour inside the completed car, but also of it being built.

Using the Oculus Rift DK2 headset, the four minute experience gives viewers a detailed look at both the interior and exterior components of the car as well as the quality control steps that Chrysler takes on every vehicle before rolling it off the production line.

The campaign suggests that there’s plenty of potential for car makers to use the Ouculus’ technology to market their cars to potential customers. And as the device becomes increasingly ubiquitous, more companies are likely to jump on board, giving users the ability to virtually test drive cars without a salesperson hassling them the whole time.
