Facebook by the numbers [Infographic]
A lot has been happening over at Facebook in the last few months. Yes yes, we all know about their (un)successful IPO and how much fun it is to watch their share price dip and soar.
But really, there are some other things happening over at the big blue social network. Zuck got married, it rolled out promoted posts, Facebook overtook Google as the most popular website in the world… wait, what? Yes, Facebook and Google alternated between first and second place in worldwide traffic ranking a few times in the last month (according to Alexa). Google is back on top at the moment, but it just goes to show that Facebook’s glory days aren’t over quite yet.
Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the numbers, shall we? An average of 526-million people logged in to Facebook daily in March 2012. It had 488-million monthly active users of its mobile products in that month — that number increased by more than 18 million by the end of April. Yes, 18-million in less than a month. What are all these users doing? Well, they’re not just sitting around passively creeping your updates — Facebook users generated 3.2-billion likes and comments in the first three months of the year. The social network has almost a billion users (yes, a billion) who log in at least once a month, and I’m sure you’ve heard that if it was a country, Facebook would be the third largest.
Not bored by all the numbers? Awesome, because there are more in the infographic below.
