With today’s discerning consumer demanding that their wearable tech be as functional as it is fashionable, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 5 Series steps boldly…
Those nostalgic Facebook ‘a look back’ videos were shared over 100m times
We know that Facebook’s personalised “A Look Back” video tool has been pretty popular. Even Facebook though must have been a little surprised when it put together the final numbers and saw exactly how well received it was.
Released in celebration of the social network’s tenth birthday, the tool allowed people to look back on their own time on the social network, triggering bouts of severe nostalgia around the globe. So high was the nostalgia rush, Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg revealed at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference, that individual videos were watched 200-million times and shared over 100-million times.
“It was amazing,” Cnet reports Sandberg as saying, “It … showed the power of the Facebook brand.”
The videos were made available to any one of Facebook’s 1.23-billion users with enough available content, while those who didn’t were greeted with a thank you card instead.
Shortly after the release of the video feature, Facebook announced it was working on giving users the ability to edit their videos.
This is not the first time Facebook has released a video retrospective. As Mashable notes, both 2012 and 2013 saw the social network release year in review videos based on similar concepts.
It’s also not the only social network to put forward this kind of video product. Twitter released its own year in review feature towards the end of 2012, while Google+ rolled out one for the first time in Decmeber last year.
