Five Sony Pictures’ movies leak after major security breach
Sony employees are rounding the year off on a bad note.
Five unreleased movies from Sony Pictures have recently leaked online. As reported by Torrentfreak, DVD-quality rips of Fury, Annie, Mr. Turner, Still Alice and To Write Love on Her Arms are currently roaming popular piracy sites.
This weekend, war title and Brad Pitt-starring Fury and comedy Annie were among the top most downloaded titles on the popular torrent site, The Pirate Bay. The latter has been downloaded over 18 000 times and is currently only meant to be in theaters, while Annie is only scheduled to premier late in December.
This leak comes after the tech conglomerate got hacked last week. According to reports, a classic backdrop of something that seems out of a cliché hackers’ movie displayed an image of a red skeleton together with the following message on Sony employees’ computers:
Warning:
We’ve already warned you, and this is just the beginning.
We continue till our request be met.
We’ve obtained all you Internal data including your secrets and top secrets.
If you don’t obey us, we’ll release data shown below to the world.
Determine what will you do till November the 24th, 11:00 PM(GMT)
Links to the information held hostage inevitably ended up on Reddit after a friend of a Sony employee posted it online. This meant that, well, the links were already exposed regardless of Sony’s cooperation with the hackers.
Allegedly hacked by Guardians of Peace (GOP), the links reportedly contained a bunch of financial records, passwords to private servers and so on.
