Delta Airlines uses all the memes for new safety video
Over the years, we’ve seen airlines employ a number of interesting tactics to get people interested in their safety instruction videos. Air New Zealand has made extensive use of Lord of the Rings and Hobbit tie-ins. Virgin America meanwhile put together one set to an elaborate song and dance routine which features contortionists, sassy child singers and a rapping pre-teen. And now US-based Delta Airlines has brought together as many memes as possible for its safety video.
Everyone from Double Rainbow Guy to Nyan Cat and Overly Attached Girlfriend make an appearance.
It’s not just memes from recent history that make an appearance though. Delta included characters from what counts as ancient history in web terms. Peanut Butter Jelly Time is there, as is Dancing Baby, one of the first ever memes.
Also, we’d probably be a lot more inclined to read a safety instruction card if it was written in Doge, as the one in this video is. We’re not sure a cat dressed as a shark while riding a Roomba would be the most effective means of cleaning the plane though.
Since going live earlier this week, the video has been viewed some 1.7-million times.
