Put your phone on a data diet with Opera Max, cuts up to 50% usage

Student life is a tough one. Life is expensive and income is practically non-existent because you’re a student. Ironically it usually comes at a time when you have to start paying for things and cutting costs.

Norwegian software giant Opera has stepped up its game and optimization seems to be the catch term; trimming the fat and getting the biggest supernova out of your buck for data is where Opera Max app is leading the technology.

The app’s latest update compresses videos, photos and media on apps or websites on your mobile (both mobile internet and Wi-Fi), which means you’re putting your phone on a data diet and providing you with real-time, daily and monthly data-usage statistics.

Less data to download means faster internet and inevitably more downloads, but further invasive tracking and monitoring of your device by these apps and add-ons can be prevented. Opera Max washes its hands with storing your personal data like photos, videos or emails by forwarding all of your private data directly to the desired destination instead of getting proxied through the Opera Max savings cloud.

According to studies done by Opera, 80% of all data is transferred using Wi-Fi networks, so this means when people come home and everyone starts their evening surf sessions, connection being to slow down.

Speeding up your connection is how Opera Max separates you from the pack. The less data that is being downloaded and shared, the less you will have to stand in-line online. The interface has gotten a lift and a tuck, the user journey flows like it came out of a Google tributary but with an overall easy to use and segmented material design.

Design aside, Andriod Guys had this to say:

What Opera Max aims to do, is create a faster browsing experience regardless of which type of internet connection you are attached to, so that you get the most bang for your buck. However, there is a catch. If you’re using any app or anything that uses an encrypted connection, Opera Max will not work with these connections.

Some social networks could end up getting blocked but for now, I will take the savings where I can get them.

As reported by Businesstech, “students [spend] around R2 702 monthly,” which includes the likes of data.

The current generation going in and coming out of the university system is the generation that can’t look away from their screens, heard that a million and six times so why not use it now. Help students use your systems and sources and in turn you track them, it’s called consumer behavioral data and it helps you understand your consumers.

From the makers of Generation Y, comes Generation Z and if you thought Y was bad with screens then Z would be the game changer.
