Update: Justin Bieber deletes his Instagram profile after warning us all
Update, 16 Aug 2016, 10.01am: Well, we didn’t think that Bieber’s marketing team would allow this, but clearly you’ve gone too far, internet. The 22-year-old, after threatening to make his Instagram profile private, has deleted his account entirely. That’s right: deleted.
That likely means all 77.8-million of his followers on the social platform are now sobbing into their sleeves.
There’s no word on whether Bieber will revive the account if fans do quell the hatred for Sophia Richie, but for now at least, one of Instagram’s heavy hitting accounts is no more. Thankfully for fans, Justin Bieber still happens to be on Twitter (with 86-million followers over there).
Original article: Everyone, start panicking. Justin Bieber has this weekend threatened to make his Instagram account private, after the star’s new girlfriend, Sofia Richie, was thrown some serious shade on Bieber’s feed.
The recording artist posted a snap to Instagram of the two of them Friday, and subsequently went a bit selfie crazy afterwards. Thanks to the heat the newly minted relationship received, Bieber noted that if his followers don’t stem the tide of hate towards Richie, he will make his account private.
“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like,” the popstar exclaimed on the photo sharing service.
That post alone garnered over 1.1-million likes so far, and over 470 000 comments, one from a particularly annoyed Selena Gomez.
“If you can’t handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend, lol,” Gomez chimed.
While she does have a point, Richie has previously received some scowling attention from the internet, with some commenters telling her to “kill herself”, so things are getting out of hand.
Still, we doubt that Bieber (or his marketing team) would allow the star to mark his account as private. With over 77-million followers, he boasts the seventh most popular account on the social network.
Nevertheless, you have been warned, internet.
