Uber’s #UberSUMMER Cape Town promo is now live
If you travel from point to point fairly frequently within the Cape Town CBD, the latest Uber summer campaign could be for you.
The company has announced #UberSUMMER, which in partnership with DStv, allows users up to 16 free rides within the city centre and surrounds, provided these rides are below R100.
Using the code “DStv” in the Uber app will activate the promotion, but there are a few terms and conditions to diarise.
Notably, rides are only free between 8am and 8pm — so no late night club hopping will be allowed with this promotion. Additionally, the supported area leaves out a vast majority of Capetonians in the southern and northern suburbs, and Cape Flats.
Uber’s #UberSUMMER promotion allows for up to 16 free rides, but comes with a slew of T&Cs
“#UberSUMMER driver-partners have been advised to stay in the designated zone to keep the #UberSUMMER love alive at all times,” the company explains in its newsletter, which likely means that there will be an ample set of wheels available to all customers.
“Please do not request an #UberSUMMER trip if you plan to travel outside of the area (as you will be charged full price).”
Uber drivers taking part in this promotion will drive one of three Kia vehicles: the Rio, the Sedona or the new Sportage.
As for the allocated area, the map itself extends as south as Rontree on the Atlantic Seaboard, and as east as Zonnebloem on Cape Town’s eastern city, tracing its way along Nelson Mandela Boulevard before tracing along the city centre’s mountain and sea borders.
Luckily, the area also includes Lion’s Head and Signal Hill.
The #UberSUMMER promotion begins 1 December and ends on 30 December.
