Instagram friends can now broadcast Live videos together
Making a clown of yourself alone on Instagram Live can get boring or even be “intimidating”, but the social network wants to change that.
It today announced that users can now go live with a friend on Instagram Stories “whether you’re just doing homework or catching up on your day”.
Stories has been one of the company’s big success, ahem, stories. Launched in November 2016, Insta claims that over 250-million people use the feature daily.
Adding live broadcasts with friends seems like a logical addition to the feature’s repertoire, at least after allowing users to add face filters to live video just last month.
Its operation is pretty seamless too.
Once a user begins a broadcast, they can invite a friend.
“Simply tap the new icon on the bottom right and tap “Add” to invite anyone who’s currently watching. Once they join, you’ll see the screen split into two and your friend pop up right below you,” Instagram explains.
And if you don’t like the friend you’re currently chilling with, you can dump them and invite someone else. Invited users can also leave at any time, or decline the invite they’re sent.
“Share your live video to stories when your broadcast has ended, or choose “Discard” and your live video will disappear from the app as usual,” it adds.
The update will be available for users running version 20 of the app on both iOS and Android.
