Update: 12.50opm SAST: Las Vegas Police have confirmed in “excess of 50 [people are] deceased”, with more than 200 injured after the shooting. The suspect is believed to be 64-year-old American Stephen Paddock.

Original article: Two people were killed and at least 26 people injured after a shooter opened fire near a Las Vegas music festival late Sunday evening.
The 91 Harvest Festival, which took place at Vegas’s Mandalay Bay Hotel, was halted by sounds of automatic gunfire.
A video captured by Drew Akioshi and republished to Twitter by David Sakach captured the moment. At the time, musician Jason Aldean was on stage. They immediately stopped after the gunfire erupted.

The tweet has since received over 19 000 retweets and 14 300 likes.
Another video published to Facebook captured events at the end of the Twitter clip.
“Stay away from the strip & stay safe,” Facebook user Issaid Sepulveda wrote.
The clip has gone viral, with over 700 000 views in just over an hour.
Another later video shows a stream of police vehicles rushing to the hotel.

The city’s operations beyond the Mandalay Bay Hotel was disrupted. People were barred from the Last Vegas Strip, while Las Vegas’s McCarran Airport also saw disruptions. It is now operating with “limited flight activity”.

Las Vegas Police confirmed on Twitter that “one suspect is down”.
“At this time we do not believe there are any more shooters,” it added in a later tweet.
