South Africans just can’t stop listening to Drake on Spotify
Summer’s slowly slinking over the horizon, and the tunes will soon be bumping along beaches into the early hours of the morning. But tunes from which artist exactly?
According to Spotify South Africa, likely Drake.
The Canadian is reportedly the most popular rapper on the company’s international summer chart, featuring four tracks in the top ten.
Three of his tracks — “In My Feelings”, “Nice For What”, and “God’s Plan”, are among the most played tracks on Spotify in South Africa since it launched in March.
Post Malone is the second most popular artist in South Africa, followed by XXXTENTACION, Ed Sheeran and Kanye West.
“The top three most streamed SA artists since launch, broke down by ‘streamed in South Africa’ and the ‘rest of the world’, are Nasty C, AKA and Jeremy Loops. Shekhinah was at number six, making her the most streamed female South African artist,” Spotify added in a press release.
“DJ Maphorisa claimed the ninth spot as the most streamed South African artist, with Fokofpolisiekar at number 10”.
