Facebook updates location settings for Android users

Good news, paranoid people. Facebook is updating its location settings for Android devices.

In a blog post, the company revealed that many Android users question whether or not they are still tracked on Facebook, even when their location is off.

iOS users don’t have this problem due to the operating systems built-in location controls.

“iOS offers an additional option, so you can share your precise location always, only when the app is in use, or never,” Facebook explains.

The new location control settings for Facebook on Android are aimed at giving users more piece of mind.

“Today we’re introducing a new background location control on Facebook for Android so people can choose if they want us to collect location information when they’re not using the app,” the company noted.

This means that you can choose whether or not you want Facebook to track you when you’re not using the platform.

If you had your location on previously, the new background location will be automatically active, and vice versa.

According to Facebook, all Android users will be alerted of the new options, while iOS users will be reminded of theirs.
