Netflix’s ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘The Punisher’ cancelled as Marvel partnership ends
Netflix has cancelled its two remaining Marvel original series, Jessica Jones and The Punisher.
“We are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning,” the company told Deadline.
The Punisher has so far seen two seasons on the platform and will not come back for a third, while Jessica Jones will conclude in its upcoming third season.
Disney-owned Marvel also confirmed the news in a statement, saying “on behalf of everyone at Marvel Television, we couldn’t be more proud or more grateful to our audience”.
“Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters… but you know Marvel better than that,” it continued.
The move might be in reponse to Disney’s upcoming streaming service, which is set to be the exclusive home of Marvel’s cinematic and TV content.
