#JusticeForThoriso: South Africa outraged by Thoriso Themane murder
On Saturday, Polokwane man Thoriso Themane was allegedly attacked and beaten to death by five high school learners.
Two videos of the attack has been spotted on social media, but have since been removed.
According to multiple reports, Themane was attacked after he allegedly stole a cellphone from the boys, who are in their mid-teens. While there is no confirmation of the theft, a teenager in one of the videos was overheard calling himself “untouchable” because his father is a former policeman.
The news sparked outrage among South Africans on Twitter, who sparked the hashtags #Thoriso and #JusticeForThoriso as more information about the murder began to unfold on Wednesday.
After Themane’s father gave an interview on PowerFM 987, South Africans were even more vocal about the murder.
Five boys have since been arrested.
