Two top Facebook executives leave the company, Zuckerberg announced

Mark Zuckerberg has revealed that two Facebook executives have decided to leave the company.

In a blog post, Zukerberg referred to the news in an update to Facebook’s new goal for a more “privacy focused” platform.

The two executives in question are Chris Cox and Chris Daniels, the company’s chief product officer and head of WhatsApp respectively.

“While it is sad to lose such great people, this also creates opportunities for more great leaders who are energized about the path ahead to take on new and bigger roles,” Zukerberg said.

In the wake of these resignations, the Facebook founder also announced that Will Cathcart will be taking over as head of WhatsApp.

“Will has helped lead our teams focused on security and integrity, and he believes deeply in providing end-to-end encryption to everyone in the world across our services,” he further said.

Meanwhile, Fiji Simo will take over as head of the Facebook app itself and
Javier Olivan will take control of the company’s extended “family of apps”.

“This is an important change as we begin the next chapter of our work building the privacy-focused social foundation for the future.,” Zuckerberg concluded.
