Google Maps is testing new off route safety alerts in India
A report by XDA Developers on Monday revealed that Google is testing a new Maps feature in India that alerts users if they go off route while driving.
This means that Google Maps in the Asian country can inform users when they or their driver isn’t following the prescribed map, thus providing riders with an added safety feature should they be in a taxi or driving in an unfamiliar environment.
According to the report, the alert is triggered when users are at least 500m off route.
This comes after Google recently expanded its speed-limit alerts feature on Maps, bringing more of the apps safety features to its global users.
