Facebook had real people transcribing your Messenger audio messages
Facebook is joining the list of companies that have been exposed for using real people to do jobs better suited for artificial intelligence.
A report by Bloomberg on Tuesday revealed that the company hired “hundreds” of contractors to transcribe audio from Facebook Messenger.
The social network confirmed to the publication that the news was true, but that it had already put a stop to the practice.
According to the social network, the contractors were employed to make sure that its AI transcribed audio accurately. It further claimed that the audio remained anonymous.
Last week, Microsoft was exposed for hiring contractors to translate audio from Skype while Google was found practicing a similar stunt through Duplex in May.
