Facebook reveals 2.2bn people use its ‘family of apps’ daily
Facebook on Wednesday released its third-quarter earnings report, revealing an increase in active users across its “family of apps”.
“We estimate that around 2.2-billion people now use Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Messenger every day on average, and around 2.8-billion people use at least one of our Family of services each month,” the company said in a press release.
In fact, Facebook saw a 9% increase in daily active users compared to last year and an 8% increase in monthly active users as well.
The company also noted that mobile advertising revenue made up 94% of its total ad revenue in the third-quarter.
Additionally, the company’s total revenue grew by 29% in the past year, while its costs also grew by 32%.
“We are focused on making progress on major social issues and building new experiences that improve people’s lives around the world,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in the report.
The company recently updated a number of its misinformation policies on both Instagram and Facebook, and also launched a new standalone app called Threads early this month.
Perhaps the new policies will attract more users to Facebook in its fourth-quarter as it works to improve privacy and safety concerns.
