Fitbit Premium adds new courses for yoga-lovers and habit-kickers
In October, Fitbit Premium made its debut in South Africa, granting subscribers access to workouts and deeper health observations for R149 per month.
On Tuesday, the company announced that this service is now live in 17 markets across the globe, and the addition of new programmes.
Premium now features “an expanded library of new workouts from third parties, and more motivational tools like new guided programs and activity challenges over the next few months to help support and guide you in reaching your unique health goals,” Fitbit revealed in a press release.
New workouts available
Workouts from trainers at Daily Burn and POPSUGAR are now offered, as well as yoga sessions from Down Dog and Yoga Studio by Gaiam.
One of Premium’s early issues was its keen focus on those who want to sweat, and less those who simply want to remain healthy.
More focus on mindfulness, sleep and habits
Fitbit Premium now also includes a “mindfulness” section focused on meditation, breathing and “soothing audio tracks design to help you wind down and get ready for bed”.
It also introduces “Kick Your Salt Habit and Habits for Restful Sleep” programmes too, “designed to provide additional support and motivation along your health and wellness journey”, it added.
Wellness reports
Wellness reports and trend data for the past year for long-term users are now made available for subscribers too. Fitbit believes that this data can be shared with doctors and healthcare providers to inform their decisions.
Fitbit Premium challenges and games
And finally, Fitbit Premium is set to introduce a number of new games and challenges for family members, close friends, and individuals.
“These include an All for One challenge to work with your family and friends toward a shared goal, a Custom Challenge where you choose a specific activity and duration to compete against and an interactive game of Get Fit Bingo where the first to complete a row or pattern of activities wins,” the company added.
Select updates are available at the time of writing, but Fitbit notes that features and new programmes will be rolled out in an “ongoing basis in the coming months”.
For owners of Fitbit smartwatches, namely the Versa and Ionic, the company has also promised a number of new features arriving with Fitbit OS 4.1.
