Hisense trolls Samsung in the best way possible after Protea gaffe
Stringent regulations might prevent South African brands from having a proper go at each other in the advertising space, but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a little fun every now and then. Just take Hisense’s reaction to a recent gaffe by Samsung for instance.
This week, an image emerged of an advert the Korean publication had placed in a South African magazine, proclaiming that it was a “proud sponsor of the Proteas” alongside a picture featuring three South African rugby players.

If you don’t get why that’s a problem, we’re guessing you either don’t know that much about sport or you come from a country where cricket and rugby aren’t major sports. The Proteas, you see, are South Africa’s national cricket team while the Spirngboks — who feature in the picture — are the national rugby team.

There were plenty of witty personal response to the image on social media but Hisense has to be the best one we’ve seen from a brand to date:
