iOS 10 could launch 30 September, according to Barbra Streisand

How pissed off do you get if Android‘s Google Now or iOS‘s Siri mispronounces your name? Not as upset as Barbra Streisand we imagine. At least we wouldn’t phone Tim Cook to rectify the situation, but Streisand did.

The recording artist, in a recent interview with NPR’s Scott Simon, made known her annoyance of Apple’s Siri getting the pronunciation of her name wrong every time, and unveiled a few choice titbits on the release date of iOS 10 in the process.

“Streisand with a soft S, like sand on the beach,” Streisand corrects Siri, after Simon asked the virtual assistant a question.

After revealing that she somehow has Tim Cook’s number at the ready, she also revealed that iOS 10 — or at least the next update of iOS — is expected to debut on 30 September.

Barbra Streisand reveals that iOS 10 will arrive on 30 September, along with a proper Siri pronounciation of her name

“I’ve been saying this for my whole career. And so what did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally, with the next update on September 30th,” Streisand claims.

“So let’s see if that happens because I will be thrilled,” she concludes.

We don’t imagine that this is the most important update coming to iOS on 30 September, but at least we now have a firm grasp on the possible release date. It also seems plausible, considering that Apple last week launched the seventh beta version of the OS for testers.

The date also fits in with the supposed launch of the iPhone 7 on 23 September. That date remains speculative at present.

If iOS 10 doesn’t hit iPhones and iPads at the end of September, at least we can look forward to Barbra Streisand getting the pronunciation she’s richly deserved all these years.
